Description
The blades are made from Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel which is corrosion-resistant, doesn’t require any particular maintenance and provides excellent cutting quality.
The blade has adopted a Yatagan shape, inspired by a traditional Turkish sabre. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures high strength and allows efficient regrinding.
Coming from French forests, Hornbeam is a white wood with few veins which is ideal for applying colour. The handle is varnished to be protected against moisture and dirt.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).

I lost one these many years ago. I have missed it. So happy to get a new one. The perfect travel knife. Great for picnics.
